About

One of the few local farms that remains part of Rocky Hill's long agricultural heritage, Gilbert Farm continues on the traditions of agriculture today from the family's great-great grandfather, Elisha.

From a small dairy farm, peddling milk and vegetables to Rocky Hill, Hartford and Middletown, to a thriving retail vegetable stand that serves central Connecticut.  Our vegetables are featured at area restaurants as well.  Our mission is to offer exceptional quality products on a consistent basis.

Lisa Gilbert takes great pride in carrying out the family legacy of farming like her father and forefathers did.  Much of the cropland that she raises 40 acres of vegetables on resides on the banks of the Connecticut River in the Rocky Hill/ Wethersfield Meadows.

Our season begins at Easter offering Easter lilies, tulips and pansies.  As spring progresses our greenhouses are bursting with color for you to enjoy in your yard.

When pulling into our open air market, you'll notice the white display bins overflowing with fresh produce picked that morning!  Native fresh, juicy and sweet strawberries are the first to arrive in June.  July is the month the real bounty begins!  Up before dawn, we harvest our fresh sweet corn, native tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, peppers and more.  We like to extend our produce season well into October and some years, right up to Halloween.

We offer fresh locally grown fruit, such as peaches, plums, pears and apples from the orchards located in Glastonbury.

During the fall, we have winter squashes, pumpkins, mums, cornstalks and gourds available.

Christmastime we offer CT grown pre-cut Fraser and Balsam trees.  We can deck out your holidays with wreaths, kissing balls, and garland.  Remember your loved ones too with a beautiful blanket, pillow or cemetery log.

Mid February the furnaces get turned on as the seeding process unfolds.  Shipments of geraniums, New Guinea Impatiens, and Proven Winner cuttings all begin to arrive, to be potted up in containers for you to enjoy in your yard, decks and patios.

All the vegetables we raise, we germinate from seed. Everything we set out in our fields to sell as finished product, we start more than enough so you can raise the same quality plant in your own garden.  From Brussel sprouts to zucchini, and everything in between!

We are a Non-GMO grower!  We believe in hybridization!
